Ms. Thompson's Wiki Page!
Let's go to the Galapagos Islands together!! I'll try to see everything through YOUR eyes, with all your curiosity and wonder and I'll do my best to tell you everything you want to know. What I really want is for you to want to visit the Galapagos--I want you to look back and say "I've wanted to go there ever since Mrs. T went!" Since the beginning of the school year, you've been learning about this amazing place and I'll bet that you know more than any other students in Utah--you probably know more about them most adults! (I'll bet they don't know what "convergence" is or a "hot spot"--but YOU do!) We've done a stinky science experiment to see what happens to the ocean when we pollute; we've played Galapagos Bingo; we've read books (and you've checked out LOTS of books!) and we've watched videos. Now it's time for me to see the real thing!

09:44 by Becca Hatch: I've just been reading Brian Merchant's blog. Thanks for the e-mail pointing us to this site. It's given me a lot to think about. I had no idea water was so scarce on the islands. It's something we don't think about much, even though we live in a desert here in Utah. I was taught to be mindful of water use and conserve all sorts of things, which I do on automatic now, but I must admit to loving long, hot showers. I had a hard time with the idea of shooting all those goats when they need them in other places to help sustain life. It's sort of the same situation as "Clean your plate--there are starving children in Africa!" Not that I could get my few tidbits from here to there!
