Keri Rodgers began her teaching career as a New York City Teaching Fellow and is a founding member of The Gateway School of Environmental Research and Technology in Bronx, NY. Ms. Rodgers graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Spanish Literature and Concentration in Latin American Studies. Although she began her career teaching Spanish, Ms. Rodgers has branched out and created bilingual science biology review, environmental studies, and advisory curriculums. Her goal is to create a differentiated and inclusive classroom that enables special needs and disadvantaged students to be engaged in learning and become successful adults able to compete in the 21st Century. She and the school social worker, Joaquin Lorenzo, have most recently created HYBRID: an inclusive Spanish class that brings students together from all populations. General education, English language learners, and special education students and from all levels of Spanish learn together in a differentiated yet inclusive classroom to collaboratively teach each other through interactive thematic and project-based learning focused on environmental research and problem-solving. When Ms. Rodgers is not teaching, she enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, hiking, travelling, playing with tech, researching whatever peaks her interest at the time, and going home to Columbus, Ohio to spend time with her family and tend to her tomato garden.
